You can request an exclusive visit here or likewise contact the Atelier Manager via contact@aramintacampbell.co.uk or by calling 0131 555 7395. To ensure your visit is as special as can be, we kindly request a booking fee starting from £150*, this will secure your own private time slot with us. Should you find the perfect handwoven piece to take home as a gift or a memento from your visit to the Atelier, your booking fee will be refunded.

Upon purchasing the tartan design experience, we will send you a gift box containing swatches of the different qualities for cloth, throws/scarves we can weave in your tartan. Araminta does have a design wait list, and to design a tartan does take time, so we suggest you gift the custom design box in at an appropriate time period if you would like products to be ready by a deadline.

Araminta’s designs tell a story in the design, colours, and thread count. Prior to your first consultation start to collect design inspirations you currently like; heritage, family elements, colour palettes, important dates and numbers, all of which can be incorporated into your design. The design process can take around 3 months from when Araminta starts your design, depending on her availability and the speed of your responses. Production takes up to 16 weeks once the design is completed and we have created yarn matches and loom cards for what you would like woven.

We are proud to be the guardians of our clients’ stories and incorporate these into their very personal designs. The custom designs we create for our clients are owned by them and cannot be made available to anyone else.

There are multiple factors that lead to our decision to create our handwoven pieces in alpaca but the core factor is that we can source our alpaca fleeces here in the UK with complete traceability, right back to being able to name the alpaca who’s fleece we are using. The brand was established with sustainability at its core. This encompasses sourcing locally where possible to reduce our carbon footprint, to ensuring the animals who provide the fibre are well cared for and that the people who care for them are paid fairly. We can be 100% confident in this with our alpaca fibre whilst providing field to fabric traceability. 

Alpaca is a rarer and exclusive choice. There are approximately 5 million alpacas worldwide that are utilised for their fleeces, whereas there are around 700 million cashmere goats. Alpaca ranks second only to silk in terms of strength. It offers the same luxurious softness as cashmere, yet surpasses it in terms of durability and resilience, making our pieces true heritage treasures that will last a lifetime. 

Our alpaca pieces have been described as “ultra luxury,” with an exquisite appearance and an unbelievably soft touch. Much of its strength can be attributed to the longer length of its fibres compared to those of sheep and cashmere goats. Additionally, alpaca fibres are hollow, with an insulating core that quickly warms up and retains heat for longer periods. This natural insulation allows for effective temperature regulation through the air pockets in the fibres. Cashmere, on the other hand, lacks the same fibre structure and cannot provide the same level of warmth and performance. 

We specialise in weaving custom tartan and tweed designs created by Araminta, and therefore sadly we cannot help with weaving tartans already created.

Yes, those who are allergic to wool can wear Alpaca. If someone is allergic to wool it is usually due to the lanolin which alpaca does not have. Some people are effected by the ‘itch’ of the fibre – alpaca is softer and less itchy.
